The Bill Will Come Due
Right now, my team at work of ~10 engineers is on track to spend $3000 this month on Claude Code. And that's with only a few of us using it for most of our daily tasks. What happens when we acclimate further and further to using these tools and they inevitably get better and better?
This will soon become another cost for us to manage like CI / CD or hosting costs. Since we're using this to build tons and tons of software, it will seem cheap in comparison to the developer time, but that doesn't mean there won't be a lot of inefficiencies.
Take a look at the tool calls that the agentic coders are making. Are they outputting a ton of context? Where can you improve the tool call output?
This is the time to invest in making it seamless and efficient to use these tools, because the bill will come due soon!
